Bielak Elected to Mexican Academy of Engineering

Professor Jacobo Bielak has been elected as a Corresponding Member of the Mexican Academy of Engineering. It is one of the highest honors that an engineer can receive in Mexico. Professor Bielak was elected because of his contributions to computational science and engineering with application to earthquake engineering and engineering seismology. The Mexican Academy of Engineering brings together distinguished engineering practitioners and researchers from the private and public sectors, with the objective of working towards the increasing and sustainable development of Mexico. It functions as a consulting organization to various public and private institutions responsible for teaching, developing or applying engineering knowledge or scientific and technological research.
