Graduate Student Awarded EPA Fellowship
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced that Carnegie Mellon doctoral student Catherine Izard was one of its 2011 recipients of the Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Fellowships for Graduate Environmental Study. Izard, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy, was one of approximately 80 students nationwide to receive a fellowship.
The STAR fellowship program began in 1995 to encourage promising students to obtain advanced degrees in an environmental field. Recipients are granted funding for two or three years for master's or doctoral degrees, respectively, in order to defray the costs associated with pursuing those degrees.
Congratulations, Catherine!
