Overview
Welcome to the research group of Dr. Peter Adams.
Topics were are actively working on include:
(1) the effects of atmospheric aerosols on the reflectivity and lifetime of clouds, known as the indirect effect of aerosols on climate;
(2) the changes in regional air quality brought about by climate change; and
(3) the effect of gas phase ammonia concentrations on PM growth and formation. The Adams group is made up of faculty and students in the Civil and Environmental Engineering, Engineering and Public Policy, and Chemical Engineering Departments at Carnegie Mellon University, and is a part of the Center for Atmospheric Particle Studies (CAPS). Atmospheric research is done using computer simulations; specifically, General Circulation Models (GCMs), Chemical Transport Models (CTMs), and Regional Air Quality Models.
