CROSS REGISTRATION AT PITT, DUQUESNE, CHATHAM

Through the Pittsburgh Council of Higher Education (PCHE) agreement, full time students at Carnegie Mellon are permitted to cross register at Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh, or Chatham College for a maximum of one course each semester without paying extra tuition. To help students get information about course offerings at other schools in the area, the Three Rivers University Consortium for the Environment has established a web site with links to the course listings at Carnegie Mellon, Chatham, Duquesne, and Pitt. The intent is to promote cross registration for environmental courses at all four schools, although information on other courses is also available. For example, environmental science courses in ecology, botany, geology, and other fields not offered at Carnegie Mellon are available at the other institutions.

The University of Pittsburgh offers many undergraduate courses related to environmental science, engineering, and policy. Of particular interest to Carnegie Mellon engineering students are Pitt course offerings in Geology, Ecology, and Civil-Environmental Engineering. A listing of undergraduate environmental courses is available at the web site of the Pitt undergraduate program in Environmental Studies.

Duquesne University offers a range of undergraduate courses related to environmental science. Of particular interest to Carnegie Mellon engineering students are Duquesne course offerings in Microbiology.

Chatham College, where Rachel Carson obtained her undergraduate education, also offers a range of undergraduate courses related to environmental science.  Of particular interest to Carnegie Mellon engineering students are Chatham offerings in ecology and biology in the Environmental Studies program.
