My primary research interest is the sustainable, life cycle management of infrastructure. I define infrastructure broadly to include transportation and building facilities, as well as energy, utility, and telecommunications networks. In assessing the efficiency of management methods, I consider private and social aspects such as externality costs of pollution. My projects page summarizes my current and past work in this area.
I am involved with the annual IEEE International Symposium on Electronics and the Environment as well as the International Society for Industrial Ecology.
I am always willing to speak with prospective graduate students with whom I share common research interests, and to explain the details of our MS degree program in Green Design and Sustainability. We are also always looking for interested undergraduate students from any University that may want to work with us on projects during the summer.
