Abstract:
This work presents an application of the methodology proposed by J.W. Wallace (1994) for the seismic design of RC shear walls to the case of Mexico City, based on displacement spectra extracted from the NTC-DS design code. The study is developed following the steps suggested in the cited reference but involving, where necessary, variables and parameters to adjust its methodology to the particular case of interest. Different relationships are covered to understand the influence of aspects as variation of the fundamental period of the structure, number of stories, base-height ratio, walsl-area to floor-area ratio, concrete strain and final deformation. Future possible studies are also proposed.
