SAURABH TANEJA

PhD Candidate

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Civil Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University and I’m working under the guidance of Prof. Burcu Akinci, Prof. James H. Garrett and Prof. Lucio Soibelman. I am currently working on supporting operations and maintenance field activities through automated data capture in field. This work involves creating an Indoor Positioning System based on a Building Information Model (BIM) just like a Global Positioning System (GPS) is based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Building Information Models (BIM) are object-oriented nD CAD files which can be utilized to add context to indoor positioning as well as improve accuracy of various localization technologies by providing space connectivity semantics. This project is being funded by the Engineer and Research Development Centre of the US Army Corps of Engineers.
