River Quest Collaboration

WaterQUEST is partnering with RiverQuest to integrate cyberinfrastructure (e.g., real-time sensing, data handling and data visualization and web-based access) into an experiential water quality based program on the three rivers of the Pittsburgh region.

  • Cyber Infrastructure Project
  1. Provide an integrative experience that includes direct measurement of water quality using traditional testing and simulations and data interpretation facilitated by cyberinfrastructure. The experience will be designed for both students and teachers to work together and for teacher professional development and content mastery enhancement.
  2. Increase the comfort level of students and teachers in elementary and secondary school settings with use of data from environmentally-relevant data.
  3. Advance the state-of-the-art in data handling with presentation for informal audiences with little previous experience with large data sets or real-time sensing data. Concurrently, to engage students in the cutting-edge questions that result from sensor deployment and advancing information technology.
