Alumni

Alumni Outreach Activities

The department holds three annual activities in Pittsburgh: a reception at Spring Carnival, a summer family picnic, and an Alumni Awards brunch during Homecoming weekend. The events attract both local and out-of-town alumni.

Department Head Visits and Presentations to Alumni Groups

The department head travels to various parts of the country to specifically meet with  groups of alumni in that area.  During these visits, the department head makes presentations about the current status and activities of the department.  During these presentations, usually done over a lunch, the department head shares news of student and faculty accomplishments and provides information on the status of undergraduate and graduate education in the department.  Individual visits with specific alumni in the area are also arranged during this same visit.

Alumni and Student Networking Events

The CEE Job Fair is held each fall.  This event is intended to introduce students to companies in the field and, since many of the companies represented employ CEE alumni, demonstrate to students that the large CEE alumni network can help them in starting and maintaining their careers.  It also shows them the benefit of remaining engaged with Carnegie Mellon after they graduate.  Lastly, it provides us another means by which to engage alumni in department activities and in current student activities.
